Ever see a Red Dragonfly? We never had before now. A pair of bright red dragonflies showed up in our backyard pond last year and now they are back. To our delight we discovered they were using our pond as their larvae dispository! Looks like they're here to stay... at least seasonally. The biggest surprise was how little they feared us. When I saw this one darting around the pond, I grabbed my camera and tripod and waited until it lit on the vine growing up the fence behind our pond. As I approached, he just moved his head watching me carefully and as you can see, he did not fly until I was so close I nearly touched him.
